Why we started the Gents Journey Men’s Meetings
I’ve had the good fortune of being part of the Gents Journey Men’s Meetings for over five years now. And it’s been absolutely invaluable. Ever since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the three of us here at Gents Journey—Stephen, Matty, and me—have been meeting up and motivating each other, sharing struggles + wins, and just talking through the challenges and joys of being a man these days. And now, we’re pumped about making it a regular thing for all of our members of the Gents Journey community. The idea is simple: we meet up once a month on Zoom and just talk man stuff.
Usually, one of us will pick a theme for the meeting, like: Fatherhood, Finances, Family, or something else – and then we all take turns riffing on that theme for an hour.
Or, we might base our meeting theme on a question, like: “How do you think the definition of ‘being a man’ has changed since your dad was your age?” Or, “What’s your one major business or professional goal this year?”
Every now and then, we scrap all of the structure completely, because one of us is really going through it, and is in need of support… Maybe a death in the family. Maybe a business issue. Problem with the wife. Being a dad. Man stuff.
Sometimes, life hits you with an unexpected challenge… And the beautiful thing about being part of a Men’s Group is, that you don’t have to endure that challenge alone. You’ve got a group of gents that have your back – and are willing to listen and offer up advice if you’re looking for it.
Like I said a moment ago: Stephen, Matty, and I have been motivating each other, cheering each other on, and holding each other accountable with our own Men’s Meetings for YEARS. And it’s been one of the most enriching things I’ve ever gotten to participate in. Now, we’re opening it up to other men who want to be part of it as well.
These meetings are completely free for all gents who want to join. (This will change and become a members-only benefit at some point in the future.)
