Most men spend their lives searching for purpose, direction, and meaning, often overlooking the fact that the path to greatness starts with a single step.

Being great isn’t only about success; it’s about living with more grounding, intention, and fulfillment. At Gents Journey, we define G.R.E.A.T. as being Grateful, Reflective, Empathetic, Accountable, and Transformational

.

When you look at each step as its own habit, you can rewire your mind and reshape your life in under five minutes a day. Short, simple, and easy.

Studies show that habit-stacking, a technique for building routines by linking habits to existing ones, is effective because it leverages brain science, specifically how the brain forms habits through cue-based repetition and strengthening neural pathways.

So, are you ready to be G.R.E.A.T. in under 5 minutes per day?

Below is our 5-step framework for building new habits into your daily routine to help you achieve your greatness.

Five-minute habits are small, consistent, and often repetitive actions that can drive big-time results over time, such as completing a task, improving mental health, or simply learning a new skill.

Habit 1: Be Grateful: You don’t HAVE to go to work; you GET to go to work.

Gratitude is the shift from burden to blessing. When you begin your day by acknowledging what you’re thankful for, you train your mind to see opportunity instead of obligation. Bonus points for doing it before you touch your phone.

👉 Try this: Jot down what you’re thankful for first thing in the morning. Hold that sense of gratitude in your back pocket as you start your day.

Habit 2: Be Reflective: Life happens FOR you, not TO you.

Reflection helps you learn from your experiences, instead of being a victim. Every moment in your life is a teaching opportunity, and too often our ‘busy-ness’ drags us through the day, without pausing to recognize how it can impact us positively.

👉 Try this: Take a moment to reflect and listen to your thoughts. Acknowledge and release any that don’t serve you. Move forward freely and intentionally.

Habit 3: Be Empathetic: Lead with your heart, not your head.

Every person you meet is carrying something unseen, as we all have baggage weighing us down. Replace judgment with curiosity, and when you see someone in distress, see yourself in them, and react how you’d want to be served in that instance.

👉 Try this: Look a stranger in the eye today and smile at them, while asking them their name. Congratulations, you’ve made a new friend and connected to more than your cellphone.

Habit 4: Be Accountable: Do what you say, say what you do.

Accountability builds integrity and trust, not only with others, but also with yourself. When you keep your word, you take action towards building motivation, as a result of moving forward with a clear and concise intention.

👉 Try this: Write down your number one priority and complete it before you open any emails. Now you’re building confidence as you tackle today’s tasks.

Habit 5: Be Transformational: Are you motivated FOR happiness, or FROM happiness?

Transformation happens when we are ready for change. An old mentor used to say, “Stand up and take a step toward yourself.” And when we make any changes or simple shifts more enjoyable, they last longer. After all, if it’s fun, it gets done.

👉 Try this: Pause the next time you are triggered or want to react a certain way. Give yourself the space to ‘respond’ vs. ‘react’, to allow yourself to come from a place of ‘love’ over ‘fear.’

By practicing these five simple habits each morning, you can unlock your inner G.R.E.A.T-ness and start each day with purpose. If this routine worked well for you, keep going, because after all, it takes 66 days to build a habit.
