📝 THE MESSAGE
A timely piece from the gents.
—
It’s the new year, and by now you’ve probably reflected on the past year. And you’ve probably started setting—or started thinking about setting—some resolutions and goals for the new year ahead.
It’s also likely that your New Year’s resolutions aren’t all that new at all. They’re probably a continuation of what you didn’t accomplish this past year, but want to accomplish this year.
So here’s the big question: What will you do differently this year?
What will you do differently this year to achieve your goals? To hit your targets? To improve your life? To break bad habits and to build better ones in their place?
Here’s a suggestion: focus on the Practice.
Once you’ve set your resolutions and developed a clear vision of what you want—the goals you want to achieve, the outcomes you’d like to have happen—set it all aside and begin to focus on the Practice.
Here’s how:
Define the Role. Identify the primary role or domain you operate within.
Clarify the Goal. Write down your biggest resolution or goal for the year. Describe what the successful accomplishment of this goal would look and feel like
Pick the Practice. Identify at least one daily or weekly practice you can engage in to help achieve your long-term goal (e.g. writing)
Plan the Practice. Time-block the practice on your calendar
Perform the Practice. Commit to the practice religiously, don’t let anything derail you from it.
Love the practice,

Master Your Year with AI: The 7 Pillars Prompt
AI is here. If you’re not using it to optimize your life, you’re already behind.
This week, we’re giving you a powerful prompt to design the rest of your year using The Gents Journey 7 Pillars of Manhood: Friendship, Family, Fun, Focus, Fitness, Freedom, and Faith.
Copy the prompt below, fill in your specific goals for each pillar, and paste it into ChatGPT or Claude. Let AI build you a personalized roadmap.
THE PROMPT:
I want to design a personalized plan for 2026 using the Gents Journey 7 Pillars of Manhood. These pillars are: Friendship, Family, Fun, Focus, Fitness, Freedom, and Faith.
For each pillar below, I’ll share my current goal. Your job is to:
Help me identify daily or weekly habits that support each goal
Show me where I can “stack” habits (do multiple things at once to hit multiple pillars)
Create a realistic weekly schedule that integrates all of these habits
Give me accountability checkpoints (how to measure progress)
Here are my goals for each pillar:
Friendship: [Insert your goal - example: “Make 2 new meaningful friendships and deepen 3 existing ones”]
Family: [Insert your goal - example: “Have one-on-one time with my son every week, be more present with my partner”]
Fun: [Insert your goal - example: “Try one new experience per month, laugh more, stop taking life so seriously”]
Focus: [Insert your goal - example: “Launch my side business, stop procrastinating on the things that matter”]
Fitness: [Insert your goal - example: “Work out 4x per week, lose 15 pounds, run a 5K”]
Freedom: [Insert your goal - example: “Pay off $10K in debt, create a financial plan, reduce stress about money”]
Faith: [Insert your goal - example: “Develop a morning meditation practice, reconnect with my spirituality, find meaning beyond work”]
Now, build me a weekly plan that integrates daily habits for each pillar. Show me where habits can stack (example: going to the gym with a friend = Fitness + Friendship). Give me 3 monthly check-ins to assess progress. Make it realistic for someone with a full-time job, family responsibilities, and limited free time. Be specific. Be actionable. Help me actually DO this.
HOW TO USE IT:
Copy the prompt above
Fill in your specific goals for each of the 7 pillars
Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or your AI tool of choice
Let AI build your personalized roadmap
Actually follow it (this is the hard part)
WHY THIS WORKS:
Most people fail at New Year’s goals because they’re vague and overwhelming. This prompt forces you to:
Get specific about what you actually want
Integrate habits across multiple areas of life
Stack habits so you’re not adding 20 new things to your day
Build accountability into the system
Example of habit stacking:
Go to the gym with a friend = Fitness + Friendship
Take your kid on a hike = Family + Fitness + Fun
Listen to a podcast about money while commuting = Freedom + Focus
Take 10 minutes this week. Fill out the prompt. Get your plan. Start living it.

Watch | 4 Things You Can’t Take Back in Life
Watch the video on the new Gents Journey YouTube channel (and remember to subscribe!)
There are four things in life you can’t take back in life:
Your words, once you’ve spoken them,
moments once they’ve passed,
actions once they’re taken,
and most importantly, time.
One of the greatest regrets of the dying isn’t failure, but inaction: being too distracted, too worried about others’ opinions, or too disconnected to fully show up for their own life.
Move with Purpose
As you move through 2026, get clear on what you’re here for and your higher calling in life. Whether it’s creating, leading, loving your family better, or simply becoming the man you wish you’d had in your own life. Whatever it is, pick one intention that truly fulfills you this year and write it down to hold yourself accountable.
Or, better yet, join us this Wednesday, January 14th, at 8:00 p.m. EST to declare it amongst our community of empowering and supportive men.
On their deathbed, many people say they’d give anything, even tens of millions of dollars, just to live one more ordinary day. Not more success, money, or fame, but for one more chance to wake up and live another day.
Think about how you can truly live your purpose when you’re given the gift of tomorrow…
Here’s a simple question to ask yourself from our Journey Deck:
So what will you do with your day tomorrow, when you wake up?
The clock is ticking.
Make it matter.
